The largest islands in the archipelago and one of the closet one to Pakse. This island is main catered toward upscale guests who are looking for a retreat and relaxing time as there aren’t many activities on the island and the infrastructure on the island is quite developed. The two main villages on the islands are Muang Saen (Westside) and Muang Khong (Eastside) and both are very nice for a stroll or a slow biking trip.

This particular island is more favorable among the budget travelers. Though it may seem unappealing to some due to its attraction to backpackers, you shouldn’t be worried too much since most places in town closes at 11:00 PM preventing any attempt at overnight parties. This island is also full of activities and well-equipped for fun activities like biking, tubing, sunset cruise and bar-hopping.
Don Det - always full of open bar and pub
Don Khone – southernmost island of the archipelago offers the blend of experience between the two aforementioned islands. It is connected to Don Det Island through a bridge built in the French colonial time. The island also has some of the best waterfalls with gorgeous view.
Waterfalls near Don Det
Though not really belong to the archipelago. All visitors to the islands must see this ancient Khmer temple complex which is said to be even older than Angkor Wat. The temple is set in the base of a mountain surrounded by lush green field and jungle like something straight out of an Indiana Jones movie.
Road to Vat Phou Temple
